As Animation Supervisor on live-action/animation hybrids, Chris contributes to all aspects of the process from storyboarding through post-production. Chris works closely with directors and visual effects studios to create the characters and to storyboard the shots. On set, Chris works with both above-the-line and below-the-line talent to ensure the best possible performance of the animated characters. In post, Chris supervises the performance of the characters to ensure their final, rendered look.
X2: X-Men II
In X-Men II, Chris was able to offer perspective from his character animation experience to the unique challenges of Nightcrawler’s tail, the BAMF! effect, Cerebro and more. He also contributed to select shots in 3D pre-viz.
Alvin and the Chipmunks
On Alvin and The Chipmunks, Chris supervised the storyboarding of the shots, the choreography of the chipmunks on set, and the final rendered animation. On Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, Chris had the additional responsibility of supervising and shooting some live action scenes.
Chris was reunited with the director of Garfield II and Alvin and the Chipmunks on the hybrid feature film HOP. Chris supervised the animation team to communicate EB’s rebellious teenage attitude along with his accomplished drumming skills. Chris went on to direct the Hop-Mini-Movie, Phil’s Dance Party.
On Garfield, Chris joined the team for the live-action shoot after the storyboarding was complete and supervised the animation through post.
On Garfield II, A Tale of Two Kitties, Chris came on to the project during script development, supervised the storyboarding, the live-action shoot and the animation through post.
